Top APC Insider Reveals How Powerful People Plotted To Stop Tinubu's Swearing In

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Interim National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, in a reflective mood yesterday, highlighted the concerted efforts by various forces to obstruct President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29 last year.

Akande recounted the serious spiritual threats and political maneuvers aimed at stalling the handover to Tinubu by former President Muhammadu Buhari, following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his victory.

Speaking at a lecture organized by the ‘Arewa Think-Tank’ group in Kaduna to mark President Tinubu’s first year in office, Akande noted the tension and threats generated by the opposition with the intent of aborting the inauguration.

The lecture, themed “Our Diversity, Our Strength,” was delivered by Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and hosted by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

Governor Alia and Governor Sani expressed optimism about Nigeria’s trajectory, citing the positive outcomes of Tinubu’s policies.

Akande, a staunch ally of Tinubu, remarked that the opposition’s posture was not unexpected. He delved into history, recalling opposition elements’ resistance to a united Nigeria even before independence in 1960.

Reflecting on past events, Akande said, “Since 1953, when a motion for Independence was first moved in the parliament by Chief Tony Enahoro, our polity has been moving from tensions of one threat to another that Nigeria must not be allowed to continue as one and united country.”

He continued, recalling the prophecies and challenges Tinubu faced during his presidential bid and subsequent inauguration: “Towards the last elections, the prophecy was thick that Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not become the APC candidate, he did become. Religious clerics of one belief and the other became sleepless for him not to win the presidential election. He won.”

He further emphasized Tinubu’s resilience in the face of obstacles: “Then, the agitation that Nigeria would not survive his political agenda. Nigeria has been waxing stronger and stronger as one and united country. One Nigeria is a major part of what we are now celebrating.”

Akande, a former Governor of Osun State, urged Nigerians to remain dedicated to the cause of a unified Nigeria.
