Members of the labor unions have stormed an office of the federal government and disrupted activities at the place.

The protesting workers closed down the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office in Lagos while enforcing the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) over the proposed minimum wage.

The NLC and TUC initiated the nationwide industrial action on Monday to protest against the Federal Government’s proposal of a N60,000 minimum wage. The union members had initially presented the demand of N615,000 to the federal government as minimum wage but later reduced it a bit while expressing readiness to still come down if the government came up from its current offer which is below N100,000.

In photos circulating online, members of the labor union were seen wielding canes and chasing FIRS staff out of the Agidingbi, Ikeja office.
