Simi Acknowledges Women’s Impact in the Music Industry
Singer Simisola Kosoko popularly known as Simi, has spoken out about ‘old cats’ women in the music industry.
She acknowledged the significant contributions of the women who paved the way for her in entertainment, emphasizing their sacrifices to challenge the status quo and create equal opportunities for female performers.
Simi, however, said she would not take undue credit, recognizing the invaluable groundwork laid by the pioneers in the industry.
During a conversation with African Folder Magazine, Simi made this statement about appreciating the advantages that come from the labour of the women who came before her.
She said:
“There are women who have worked hard to damn the status quo. So, I won’t give myself much credit because I also benefited from other women who came before me.”
