Ondo APC Leaders Tell NWC To Deal With Sen Ibrahim, Oke For Attacking Gov Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo People’s Assembly (OPA), representing leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has urged the national party leadership to take disciplinary action against Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and Chief Olusola Oke for allegedly disrupting the democratic process and causing turmoil following the recent party primary in the state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerged as the winner of the APC primary, but Senator Ibrahim, Chief Oke, and other aspirants contested the outcome.

Senator Ibrahim has filed a lawsuit in a Federal High Court seeking the nullification of the primary.

The party leaders accused Senator Ibrahim of collaborating with opposition politicians to undermine APC’s preparations for the upcoming governorship election in November.

Convener of the group, Olufemi Lawson, stated at a press conference in Akure, “It is with deep dismay that we address the sustained attacks on the personality of Governor Aiyedatiwa by Senator Ibrahim and some supporters of Chief Olusola Oke, who were among the losers of the primary.”

Lawson continued, “It is indisputable that Governor Aiyedatiwa emerged as the winner of the primary through a transparent and democratic process. It is therefore unacceptable that individuals would seek to undermine the will of the people and disrupt the peace and stability of our state.”

“We hereby call upon the leadership of the APC to take immediate and decisive action against Senator Jimoh Ibrahim for continuously publicly attacking the party, disrespecting the office of the governor of Ondo State, and undermining a democratic process conducted by the party. His actions are not only detrimental to the party but also to the entire state.”

Chief Oke, represented by the spokesman of his campaign organization, Ojo Oyewamide, responded by saying that Ondo people are not against anybody contesting the outcome of the contentious primary in court. He stated, “Rather, they (residents) are displeased with the crude and dirty manner in which the party threw up Aiyedatiwa as the candidate of the party.”

Meanwhile, Senator Ibrahim, speaking through his campaign organization’s spokesman, Banji Okunomo, invited the party leaders to address their concerns in court, stating, “We are already in court. Whoever is aggrieved should meet us in court.”
