Liverpool Speaks After Replacing Klopp

Liverpool officially announced on Monday that Feyenoord coach Arne Slot will assume the role of manager at the Premier League club.

This comes just a day after Jurgen Klopp bid an emotional farewell at Anfield. In a statement, Liverpool confirmed that the 45-year-old Dutchman will commence his duties as head coach on June 1, pending a work permit.

While the length of his contract was not specified by the club, British media widely reported that Slot had inked a three-year deal, with compensation to Feyenoord rumored to be as much as £9.4 million ($12 million).

Slot himself confirmed his move to Anfield during his final pre-match press conference with Feyenoord last Friday.

Klopp, who announced his departure from Liverpool in January, concluded his tenure with a 2-0 victory over Wolves on Sunday. In his farewell address to the fans, the 56-year-old urged them to extend their full support to his successor, leading them in a chant of “Arne Slot, na na na na na”.

“You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me,” Klopp stated. “You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team.”
