Kelly Rowland Calls Out Alleged Racial Bias in Red Carpet Incident
Kelly Rowland has addressed the now-viral footage of her having a verbal altercation with an “aggressive” security guard on the 2024 Cannes Film Festival red carpet this week. In an interview with AP Entertainment, the R&B singer and actress explained that the incident came about when the guard violated her boundaries.
Rowland also claimed that the guard only treated her with aggression in comparison to other actresses who “did not look like her.”
“The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. And, I have a boundary, and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it,” the 43-year-old said. “And there were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded, or pushed off or told to get off.”
She added,
“I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers but I stood my ground and that was it.”
