Ex-Gov Ahmed, Key Figure in Corruption Probe Involving Saraki, Faces Charges

Former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over transactions amounting to billions of naira.

Ahmed, a close ally of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, was seen arriving at the EFCC office in Ilorin on Monday morning. The EFCC summoned him, according to Channels Television, and he is currently answering inquiries regarding the allocation of the purported funds during his tenure.

From May 2011 to May 2019, Ahmed served as governor of Kwara State. In May 2021, a team of investigators at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja’s Jabi neighborhood questioned Ahmed about the alleged misappropriation of approximately N9 billion from the Kwara state treasury.
