Drama As Portable Jumps Gate To Escape Arrest (VIDEO)
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, attempted to evade arrest by leaping over a gate as operatives from the Lagos State Police Command sought to detain him on Tuesday. His apprehension followed a complaint lodged by a car dealer, citing unpaid debts.
Portable had initiated the purchase of a N27 million G-Wagon from the dealer, making an initial payment and pledging to settle the balance later.
In a video circulating on social media capturing his arrest, Portable, clad in a white and black striped shirt, appeared engaged in an amicable conversation with the officers who arrived to arrest him.
Upon being presented with a warrant of arrest, Portable responded, “No problem, no problem Oga mi,” before swiftly scaling a nearby gate and fleeing.
In a subsequent video, he was seen being escorted into a waiting vehicle by four police operatives.
Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
In 2023, the singer faced legal troubles after being arrested and arraigned for alleged assault on a former signee. Despite police requests for him to surrender, he was apprehended at his Ota residence.
Portable, known for his contentious reputation, gained fame with his hit single, “Zazoo Zehh,” featuring rapper Olamide in 2021.
