Common Reveals How Drake’s Dad Ended Their Rap Feud

Veteran rapper Common recently revealed on the Drink Champs podcast that an unexpected figure played a key role in squashing his beef with Drake in the early 2010s: Drake’s father, Dennis Graham.

The tension reportedly stemmed from the rappers dating the same woman, tennis star Serena Williams, and taking subtle jabs at each other on tracks like “Sweet” and “Stay Schemin’”

Common described a tense encounter with Drake at the 2012 Grammy Awards. However, things took a turn when Dennis Graham intervened. Recognizing the respect due to an elder, Common agreed to end the hostilities. Drake echoed the sentiment, and they decided to move forward.

Common elaborated that the feud began because he suspected Drake of throwing shade at him due to their past relationship with Williams. He acknowledged that such situations can arise, but he wouldn’t hesitate to respond if someone disrespected him.

This isn’t the first time Common has spoken about resolving the feud. In a 2012 interview, he mentioned a positive conversation that led them to put their differences aside. The experience ultimately led to him having even greater respect for Drake’s talent.
