BREAKING: Heavy DSS, Police Deployments As Court Hears Suit On Kano Emirate Tussle

There is a heavy security presence in and around the Federal High Court complex on Court Road in Kano as the hearing on the emirate dispute begins.

The dispute is mainly between Emir Muhammad Sanusi and the camp of the dethroned Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero. Both men have insisted on the legality of their continued stay as Emir of Kano.

Meanwhile, policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have positioned their vehicles strategically around the court, restricting movement in the area.

Currently, there is a diversion of vehicles passing through Court Road, leading to Zoo Road and the Gyadi-Gyadi area.

The nationwide strike over minimum wage had affected the sitting of the Federal High Court in Kano regarding the restraining order on the reinstatement of Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir.

A Federal High Court in Kano had issued an order stopping the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law.

Justice Mohammed Liman granted the order in response to an application by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate.

The hearing, originally scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, was postponed.
