BREAKING: FG, NLC, TUC Resume Talk, Final Minimum Wage Amount To Be Announced As Directed By Tinubu

The Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage has resumed discussions regarding a new minimum wage for workers in Nigeria.

The committee is convening at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja.

Representing the Federal Government are Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance; Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Planning; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of Labour; and representatives from the offices of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Head of Service of the Federation.

Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), are leading the organized labour delegation.

Abdulateef Shittu, the Director General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, is also in attendance, although no state Governors were present at the time of this report.

Meanwhile, a final amount for minimum wage is expected to be announced in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu to Edun, the Minister of Finance. Tinubu had told Edun to work out the modalities of the minimum wage after the federal government agreed to pay an amount above N60, 000.

Recall that Labour had suspended its nationwide indefinite strike on Tuesday after significantly impacting the economy.
