Armed bandits attacked a gathering of Muslim faithful celebrating Maulud in Kusa.
The tragedy occurred in a community in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 20 lives and the abduction of numerous individuals.
According to a vigilante member who witnessed the brutal assault, the attackers, numbering several, stormed the event around 11:05 p.m., creating chaos and grief among the villagers. The bandits opened fire on the participants, causing multiple injuries, and kidnapped several people, taking them to an undisclosed location. By the time security forces arrived in response to the distress call, the assailants had vanished into their hideouts. Subsequently, 20 bodies were discovered inside the village.
Confirming the incident, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the police spokesman in Katsina, stated, “Yes, there was an attack in Musawa LGA around 11 pm while people were having Maulud procession. Bandits attacked, shot, and injured 18 people. They were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Later on, two among them died. Further investigation is ongoing for possible arrest and to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice.”
