Namitira Bwala, a student at Lead British International School in Abuja, has taken a legal action against the school’s management, alleging negligence in providing a safe and conducive learning environment.

The outcry began on social media when videos surfaced depicting the alleged bullying of a female student from Lead British International School, Abuja. In an SOS post by @mooyeeeeeee, accompanied by videos, concerns were raised over the bullying incident.

Bwala’s civil suit, filed on May 9, 2024, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeks redress through her lawyer, Marvin Omorogbe, Esq., of Deji Adeyanju and Partners. She is pursuing a public apology and ₦500 million in general damages.

Bwala’s claims include allegations of negligence on the school’s part for failing to prevent the assault, emotional distress, and trauma she experienced while under their supervision. She demands a public apology in two national newspapers and substantial compensation for damages.

In a statement, Marvin Omorogbe Esq., expressed confidence that the lawsuit will prompt necessary reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The lawsuit stems from a viral video depicting bullying at Lead British International School, Gwarimpa, Abuja, highlighting the school’s alleged failure to provide a secure learning environment.

As of now, a hearing date for the lawsuit has not been fixed.
